In this inspector training seminar, the faculty will review critical checklist requirements and key inspection procedures for the major laboratory disciplines. The purpose is to communicate effective techniques so inspectors will be more confident and comfortable performing inspections. Faculty will cover specific topics, including the overall inspection process (eg, developing an inspection plan, practical “how to” tips of conducting the inspection, and documenting the findings), as well as determining compliance with the specific accreditation requirements. In addition to understanding the role and tasks of an inspector, you will learn best practices in laboratory quality to afford the opportunity to incorporate them into your own quality improvement plan and laboratory processes. This program is designed for medical technologists/technicians, pathologists, and laboratory scientists who perform on-site laboratory inspections for the College of American Pathologists (CAP) Laboratory Accreditation Program. The completion of this seminar and a passing score on the team leader or team member online post-test fulfills inspector requirements. This day-long course will highlight best practices, emerging concepts, and validation solutions for your laboratory. Spanning several disciplines, including microbiology, hematology, point-of-care testing, and immunohistochemistry, you will learn how to ensure quality testing results, drive improvements in the laboratory, and propel advancements in testing. Faculty will discuss how to implement practical approaches to meeting regulatory requirements and attendees can “ask the experts” during small group discussions. This session is intended for pathologists, residents, laboratory managers, quality managers, supervisors, and laboratory medical scientists.
